Warnings: Major character death. Angst-o-meter cranked up to 150%. Don't read if you're out of Kleenex at the moment!

Reasons for recommending: This is *THE* classic of classics in JA, even if it is AU. Wonderfully written, heartbreakingly beautiful, if you haven't read this, (1) Where have you been??? (2) Go read it, NOW! Obi-Wan's hurt, Qui-Gon's regrets, and the end... angst at its very finest. I have to go now, or I'll start squeeing soon, and it'd just be embarrassing...

*****

The boy was familiar. About 17 or a little older perhaps. Long light brown hair, caught up in a pony tail. Not overly tall, not overly stocky... He was dressed in unrelieved black from head to toe - black boots, black trousers, black shirt. His eyes were blue-grey...

...and cold. Cold as the ice they resembled.

Qui-Gon shivered. The feeling of familiarity persisted though. He knew this boy. If he could just focus, he would remember...

Unfortunately, focusing was beyond difficult just now. He was in too much pain. He couldn't concentrate, could barely see. It was taking all his powers just to remain conscious.

*****

Further comments: Emily Glick (a.k.a. Jedillore) wrote a series of prequels and sequels for this wonderful masterpiece. It's her stories that wove such a fantastic universe around this AU. If I recced one of the following stories for every week that I'm here, it'd be worth it. But in an effort to not be tedious and boring, and also to save myself from finding quotes in these epics, I'll just leave you links here.

NOTE: Emily wrote her stories in semi-flashback style, so read Sharon's first.

And from what I know, Andromeda also wrote a story in this universe called "Shattered Soul". I've never been able to find it. So if one of you know where it is, a link would be appreciated.

Cast my Soul to the Sea was one of the first TPM-universe fics I ever read, and it still remains as one of my all-time favorites.

I've read This Way Became my Journey, but I haven't seen the others you mentioned, so I'm looking forward to checking those out.
