Hi everyone! It's great to be able to rec again. :D

Title: The Book of Sins

Author: Cynthia Martin

Rating: R

Pairing: Q/O, with Rogue!Xanatos

Warnings: None.

Author's e-mail, web site and/or LJ id: YCYMartin@aol.com. I seem to recall that she had a live journal, but I can't remember its handle. Any assistance appreciated.

Reason for Recommending: Just the thing for a bleak November day! This effervescent, witty fic features an adorably clueless but shrewd Qui-Gon, a somewhat naive but still sharp as a tack Obi-Wan, and a fantastic Xanatos you'd like to simultaneously snog and slap. Cynthia acknowledges a debt to P.G. Wodehouse, but you needn't know Wodehouse at all to enjoy the story (I'd never read him until I read Cyn's fic and became intrigued). I've read this piece many times and always find something new to enjoy.

Cynthia is incredibly talented. Her work makes me fawn in admiration and seethe with jealousy. :D

The whole damn story is quotable. It was tough to select just one.

"Then you have your Master," Obi-Wan was saying. "How perfectly swell it is to have a Master, someone to train you and teach you and drag you out of slave pens when you haven't the faintest notion who you are. Masters are tall and wonderful. Masters are always right. Of course you'll worship the ground your Master walks on after a bit. You might even fall in love. In fact, I guarantee it."

It occurred to me that we were fast approaching territory best unexplored by the ten-to-twelve set, but a strange paralysis seemed to have gripped us all.

This is one of my favourite fics. It's one of those stories that improves on further readings, and makes me choke with laughter every time. Qui-Gon is wonderful - his response to Obi-Wan's stories! -and it contains the best name for a therapist ever. :D

Great rec, thanks!
