Reasons for recommending: There are all kinds of ways to tie Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan together, and all sorts of different connections they share. This is a gorgeous little role-reversal with a young but very confident Obi-Wan Kenobi and a quiet Qui-Gon Jinn. It's been my favorite TPM fic since it hit the list.

Quote from story: Obi-Wan slides his hand down across one hip and to the building erection his touch creates. The power is always here, and it always lies with him, and because of it, the ennui of mission after mission lifts. He looks over at Qui-Gon, who seems to feel the shifting regard of the man who touches him. The padawan strokes idly, watching. It's been a long time since Qui-Gon stopped trying to move into this kind of touch; Obi-Wan knows it's light and maddening for a forceful, passionate man like his master, but he does not increase pressure or speed. It's not a tease; it never has been. It's simply his way.

More: The tone of this story is so well-suited to its content that it makes it very easy to fall into this version of the SW universe. We're looking at a universe where masters learn from their padawans every bit as much as padawans learn from their masters, and where it just feels right for Obi-Wan to be in charge the way he is. It's got a quiet, strong, shivery feel to it that just makes my day. And the sex, Force help me, is incredibly wonderfully hot. Qui-Gon's obedience is just scorching and his wonder in being allowed to make sound is written really, really well.

Catching up on my backlog of comments. Some of Hilary's stories really work for me, and some fall wide of the mark; but if there was one I'd chooose as her very best Q/O, it would be this. The whole atmosphere of quiet building up...I remember being virtually drugged by it when I first read it. Thanks for bringing it back to mind.
